An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society
OUR VISION
We envision a well equipped society where everyone has access to education, economic stability, political participation, social equality, healthcare, and human rights, free from caste, creed, religion, or gender discrimination.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to identify the vulnerable and organize them into mutually supportive, cohesive self help groups especially the women and the physically challenged, inculcate savings, provide vocational skill trainings and channelize available credit and other welfare services through banks, Govermentand International donar agencies, access to socially respectable standerd of living and to establish a peace and pleasurable fair society.
As per the words of Mahatma Gandhi, 'Whenever women become empowered, their family, the community they belong to, and slowly but steadily, the nation as a whole become empowered.' Guided by this belief, we have been dedicated to enhancing the self-help group (SHG) programs for women, focusing on leadership development, book-keeping, resource management, entrepreneurial skills, and vocational training. Our organization provides support to women’s self-help groups through skill training programs based on their abilities. Additionally, we offer credit linkage services to help establish micro-enterprises, thereby promoting income-generating activities and improving their standard of living. This program is financially and technically supported by the Tamil Nadu Corporation for the Development of Women Ltd., Chennai. Our efforts have been implemented in the Thiruvarankulam and Pudukkottai blocks, as well as in the Pudukkottai and Alangudi urban (town panchayat) areas. Through this initiative, we have empowered 450 women’s SHGs, 68 men’s SHGs, and 55 disabled SHGs. We have also trained and provided credit assistance to more than 350 SHGs through bank linkages, enabling them to become financially independent. This program is ongoing and continues to make a positive impact on the community
The Economic Sustainability Program, supported financially and technically by RSWR USA, has been a transformative initiative for women in the community. Over the past five years, this program has trained and provided credit assistance to over 500 women, empowering them to achieve financial independence. A majority of the beneficiaries are from Dalit, Most Backward Castes, and Minority Muslim communities. Through this program, women have acquired skills in various trades and crafts, enabling them to engage in income-generating activities. As a result, they now have access to improved standards of living and are better equipped to contribute to their families and communities.
The Dalit Women Rights Program, supported by CWS Secunderabad, is dedicated to empowering Dalit women by raising awareness about their human rights and promoting their overall development in Pudukkottai district. Targeting key villages with large Dalit populations, the program educates women on crucial legal and social protections, including the Prevention of Communal Rights Act (PCR), Special Act X for Panchayat Raj reservations, laws addressing communal violence, and other key human rights legislations. The initiative also encourages their active participation in community development and helps them access various government welfare schemes. A strong emphasis is placed on forming Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and promoting savings and credit systems to enhance the women’s economic independence and ensure sustainable financial security.
When disabled individuals are given equal opportunities, they prove that they are not defined by their physical challenges but by their abilities.” In line with this belief, we have been implementing the Pudhuvaazhvu Project in the Kunnandarkovil block of Pudukkottai district. The project operates through 37 village panchayat resource center programs, focusing on the identification and support of disabled individuals. We provide financial credit assistance to ensure their livelihood and income-generating activities, helping them achieve a respectable standard of living. The success of this project is reflected in the growing database of empowered beneficiaries who now have access to improved economic opportunities.
The National Agricultural Development Program (NADP) aims to strengthen grassroots milk production infrastructure by educating milch animal rearers and encouraging the adoption of modern technologies to improve milk quality and quantity. Supported by the Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries Department, Chennai, this program focuses on awareness and technical guidance across six taluks in Pudukkottai district: Alangudi, Karambakudi, Aranthangi, Gandarvakottai, Annavasal, and Ponnamaravathi. As part of this initiative, 250 milk producer cooperative societies have been established to enhance milk production and empower the dairy farming community.
The Neighbourhood Free Tuition Centres (NFTC) project aims to provide supplementary education to underprivileged school-going children. Supported by Bhoomika Trust, Chennai, the program operates in the seashore areas of Ramnad and Pudukkottai districts. Under this initiative, 30 tuition centres have been established in Ramnad and 50 in Pudukkottai, benefiting a total of 2,000 children. These centres are located near the children's homes, offering easy access to education. Local educated youth are employed as tutors, providing quality support in challenging subjects. The program has successfully improved academic outcomes, facilitated further studies, and helped prevent school dropouts and child labor.
The Child Rights Program in Pudukkottai district focuses on ensuring children's basic rights and fostering their growth within a supportive community. Children, often among the most vulnerable groups after women, face neglect of their fundamental rights, including the right to life, health services, education, association, and participation. This program raises awareness among both the community and children about protecting and upholding these rights, ensuring that every child receives the care and opportunities they deserve for a brighter future.
"Education is the golden key to transform the lives of differently-abled and mentally challenged individuals." At Blossom Special School in Pudukkottai, our organization provides holistic education and therapy for 25 children under 14 years with mental retardation (MR) and cerebral palsy (CP). The school focuses on personalized education based on the children’s capacity to learn, training in essential daily living skills such as bathing and dressing, physiotherapy, and medical care. Equipped with trained teachers, therapy tools, and educational materials, the school helps children develop independence and improve their quality of life. Parents are also guided through counseling and support to provide home-based care, attend health camps, and actively engage in their child’s development. This initiative has helped many children overcome challenges associated with MR and CP, enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives.
